In business to restore the life support system of our planet

“We know that production of oxygen, and clean water cycling are carried out by the photosynthesis of trees. These Primary Ecosystem Services (PES) are depleting at an exponential rate globally because they have not been valued or economically recognized” - Dr. Ranil Senanayake, Sri Lanka Position Paper UN Conference for Climate Change COP21 Paris 2015.

VISION

To realize the productivity value of Photosynthetic Biomass as the basis of sustainable wealth creation.

MISSION

To empower humanity to enrich our Global Commons by ‘onsetting’ Primary Ecosystem Services as a contracted land service, with its value being your private ownership.

About

The nature of our business : CPES ‘positive externalities’ deposited to the Global Commons

There is no ‘production technology’ that is more efficient than trees and plants to produce primary ecosystem services sucha as Oxygen. But the amount of PES that they provide varies greatly, depending on age, species, and the environment they grow in. While Oceanic Phototrophs produce more 'net Oxygen, terrestrial systems contribute an additional primary ecosystem service , the function of water purification through transpiration - Dr. Ranil Senanayake.

Every tree as it grows eventually reaches a ‘compensation point’, where the accumulation of Photosynthetic Biomass tapers off, net primary productivity ceases, and the tree has enough turn over to respire for maintaining its mature state. EarthRestoration’s methodological approach to validate the first 4 years of growth guarantees that the LifeForce validates net primary productivity.

Why we do it

CPES & the foundations of ‘onsetting’ Oxygen as a tangible economic opportunity

The Oxygen that is present in the air that we breathe Is the birth right of every organism that lives on this planet. It is free for everyone. However, the action of some to take out more than their share, without replacement, has created a condition where the Global Commons of air is being rapidly degraded. Free Molecular Oxygen (FMO) is one of the rarest substances in the known universe, it is found only in the atmosphere of planet earth. The only known The process that produces FMO biologically is photosynthesis.

How we do it

LifeForce approach for Contracted Primary Ecosystem Services (CPES)

  1. A tree unit will be contracted to the landowner of each approved LifeForce community development project site. Each enrolled landowner or farmer has agreed to maintain the tree unit in good health and in accordance with the LifeForce Tree Farming Contract — signified by the leaf mass accumulation on the tree over the contracted time (4 years).

  2. Tree species we Monitor, Record and Validate (MRV) using LifeForce : View MRV Tree Species List

  1. Every dollar invested in LifeForce contract is partitioned to have an escrow account 80% in favour of the tree guardian, 10 % for MRV& 10% to admin with data management.

  1. The tree guardian payment is done once a year for 4 years and is based on the weight of photosynthetic biomass (leaf mass) grown and maintained.

  1. At each annual MRV the PB accumulation = Oxygen and clean water generated will be ceded to the investors LifeForce ledger.

How it works

What we do in terms of servicing each LifeForce unit is identified through Climate smart agriculture and Analog Forestry intervention modules that are accessible to the community of LifeForce landowners . The thematic areas of education for year 1 to 4 are identified.

1 YEAR

Thematic knowledge & Practice 1 : Soil management and farmland activities schedule

  • Soil bunds terraces.
  • Economic estimation of LifeForce contract.
  • Organic Manure compost : In every managed farmland.
  • Mulching : Bi-annual intermonsoon practice identified on a farming ‘activities calendar.
  • BioChar : Integrate value chains that collect and pelletize.

2 YEAR

Thematic knowledge & Practice 2 : Water Management

  • Identify water flow patterns in the farmed area.
  • Economic estimation of LifeForce contract.
  • Establish percolation pits and pond habitats analogous to natural habitats found in the region.

3 YEAR

Thematic knowledge & Practice 3 : Agroforestry / Perennial Crop Production

  • Economic estimation of LifeForce contract.
  • Boundary trees and hedgerows : native trees and shrubs / multi-purpose N-Fixing trees / EarthRestoration tree farming manual.
  • Food Forest / orchard design .
  • Reduce post harvest losses value add fruits and vegetables : Food preserving manual for annual crops in the tropics : Food and Drug Admin approved.

4 YEAR

Additional benefits can be scaled through income affording the database of homegarden farmers

  • Clean energy : Solar pumps.
  • Weather forecasting tools : Elzian AgroTec partners.
  • Organic Manure compost : In every managed farmland.
  • Pest and disease forecasting tools : Elzian AgroTec partners.

Our Products

Validated CPES certificate

At the end of the four year LifeForce CPES term the owners ledger is capped and the MRV record made immutable. The validated quantity of CPES is value set as a baseline peg to existing markets for these atmospheric elements.

  1. The metaDATA available on each LifeForce ledger is a rightful and private stocks traced by this deposit into the Global Commons.

  1. This record of ownership issued as a LifeForce QR code could be sold or transferred on select emerging markets that recognize value for verified ‘positive externalities’.

Aquae Lab Ecosystems Conservation Index (ALECI)

ALCI is now live — and it’s a game-changer for ecosystem restoration. We’ve spent decades working to restore Sri Lanka’s ecosystems — and to show the world that living systems hold value far beyond extraction. Now, with ALCI fractions, we finally have a way to measure and trade that living value — biodiversity, carbon, oxygen, and biomass — through transparent, blockchain-based smart contracts. This is a new kind of economy: one rooted in regeneration, not depletion.

FAQs

Get the Answers to Common Questions

LifeForce can be used as a solution to bridge contractual benefits and transparently manage payments for ecosystem services (PES) to farmers during the initial and valueless early growth stages of a trees establishment phase. As photosynthetic biomass can retain value only as long as it is living, the dependence of processing and exporting product to sustain economic activity ceases. The tree farmer is paid for the amount of photosynthetic biomass that they maintain alive on their land.

  1. Pays the farmer up to $100 per tree at the end of the contract.
  2. The LifeForce certificate ensures the survival of new trees planted on farms.
  3. The LifeForce ledger is a transparent management mechanism for achieving SDGs

By activating a digital smart contract for each tree and managing 4 years of contractual tree-care together with the owner. One consequence of climate change is the predicted rise in global temperatures. If ambient temperatures exceed 40 degrees , which has become the reality in many places even today, food production will be compromised. All the food we eat originates with plants and plants produce using photosynthesis. Photosynthesis, or the capture of solar energy by plants, is done with chlorophyll, the thing that makes plants green and chlorophyll begins to break down after 40 degrees. Landscapes whose summer temperatures go beyond this limit will have smaller and smaller crops as the temperatures increase. The only solution to this oncoming crisis, is to begin introducing trees at strategic points on the landscape.

What methods do we use to design the landscape and improve sustainability? Use applied restoration methodologies such as Analog Forestry (AF) / Agroforestry / Permaculture / Assisted Natural Regenerative (ANR) / and other traditional forms of natural farming in order to select the most appropriate species and engage farmers and ecosystem designers in sustainable landscape development.

Trees and all other forms of vegetation cool the environment around them through the transpiration process, which takes place in the leaves. The water absorbed by the roots is detoxified and sent up to the leaves which release it as vapor, cooling the air around it. All LiferForce UNITS are measured for this transpiration phenomena based on the weight of photosynthetic biomass that has been accumulated through the contract period.

We pay the most for tree-care in the world: making this a very potent solution by which to positively affect human behavioral changes that are more conducive to a sustainable planet for humans and biodiversity.
